Nipper's manner lesson

Pops has a yearling filly that we have never really messed with. A few weekends ago Tess thought it might be time to teach Nipper some manners...a/k/a have a small rodeo.
Really, this halter won't hurt a bit.

We've got it all under control now!

Nipper learning some basic manners.
Banjo in the foreground, looking pretty bored with this whole thing.

And they all lived happily ever after...at least until the next time Eric
shows up with a halter in hand.

Wendy's latest project

Summer before last, readers of this blog will remember my first homegrown meal where I attempted to have a feast made completely with ingredients that I had grown myself or knew where it came from. I quipped that all I needed was a bee hive and a milk cow and I would have it made. Well..... Lucky for me a childhood friend of mine is the famous "Bee Whisperer."
Introducing the bee hive.
Bee hive from the side. This is a particularly girly bee hive - with a copper top.

What good is a bee hive without the bees. 3lbs of them, or 8-10 thousand. I picked them up from the Bee Whisperer in Cheyenne on Saturday, I'll bet Tess and I were in the only car on the highway with 10,000 bees buzzing away.

Close ups.

Bees, bees everywhere.

Me and the bees, getting ready to put them in the hive.

Putting them in. I am certainly an amateur bee keeper...but I think I got most of them in. A check in later this evening lead to me believe things would be ok...I hope.
It is important to note though, that bees and long hair do not mix.
Notice my mother took this picture from behind the fence, and in her car, with the windows up.

Kids love real farm machinery!

Blogger, is messing with me this morning. So rather than throw my computer out the window you will just have to pretend this photo is at the end of this post. There is nothing like jammin' with dad after a long day at the zoo, outdoors, in shorts, in early April. Good friends good times!

Earlier...
We found our law school friends Kirk and Christy in Phoenix. They met us at the zoo.

This is a rare moment to find Eric and Kirk not in a heated discussion over politics, must be the calming effect of the goat.

Kids, young and old, love real farm machinery. Tess noted this tractor is stuck.

Camel ridin'

More carousel, this time with the rodeo queen wave!

Cousin Joseph

Cousin Joseph and his family were gracious enough to have us visit them in Phoenix for Easter/Spring Break. Tess was delighted. IT had been awhile since she had seen "baby Joseph" and it quickly dawned on her he was no longer a baby!

We rode the carousel at the train park, and of course rode the train.

Maggie took some great photographs of the kiddos together.
